Spicy Mussels with Chorizo and Beer Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Live Blue Mussel, cleaned, remove the beards
  • 1 pound chorizo, sliced 1cm thick on a bias
  • 2 cans of Schwarzbier
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons salted butter
  • Sea salt and ground black pepper
  • ½ cup chopped cilantro (optional)
  • Garlic toast, for serving
  • Your favorite chili powder of PepperukoHK, ½ teaspoon (more or less to taste)

Preparation

Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.

Add in chorizo and fried until both sides are brown.

Lower heat to medium and add onions and garlic. Season with chili powder, salt and pepper. Cook for 8-10 minutes, until softened.

Add mussels and beer, stirring, for 4 minutes, until mussels open.

Remove any mussels that do not open.

Add butter and melt into the broth.

Check seasoning, sprinkle with chopped cilantro (if using), and serve with garlic toast.
