Deep Fried Chili Cheese-stuffed Potato Ball

For 6 persons


  • 1 lb minced beef
  • 1/2 red onion, finely chopped
  • 3 clovers of garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • Your favorite chili powder of PepperukoHK, 2 tablespoons (more or less to taste)
  • 4 potatoes, peeled, steamed and mashed
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese cube or mozzarella cheese cube
  • Oil, for frying


Heat a pan over medium-high heat. Put the minced beef in the pan, loosen with a spoon.

Add red onion, garlic, black pepper salt and chili powder, and stir.

Add ketchup, Mix thoroughly allowing beef to cook all the way through.

Remove the pan from heat, and drain excess fat.

Add the mashed potatoes to a big bowl, and add in the flour and 1 teaspoon of salt. Stir to combine.

Using the palm of your hand, spread 1 tablespoon of the potatoes into a thin pancake.

Add 1 teaspoon of the beef, then press a cheese cube into the middle.

Wrapped the beef and cheese with potatoes and make it spherical.

Heat the oil over high heat until temperature reaches 180˚C.

Fry the potato ball for about 5 mins, until golden brown.

Put the potato ball to a paper towel-lined plated to drain oil.

Serve and enjoy!
